Biography
During a benefit concert at the end of 2001 Daniëlle met Joop and Marijke de Jong from the band The Mary Kee Country Company. They spontaneously performed together that night and after that the cooperation slowly turned into a steady form and in 2006 they changed their name into Change of Key.
The heartwarming voice of Daniëlle, the beautiful harmonies, the different instruments make sure their repertoire is varied and very pleasant to listen to. After a few years working together Change of Key released (2007) their first album with all original songs, ’Home is Where My Heart is’. This album was rewarded with a Dutch CMA Award in 2008. This was a very good year for the trio, they also received the Award for female singer, song, duo/trio and instrumentalist. In 2012 Change of Key released their second album, a double CD ‘When Music Calls My Name’. Both albums are musically recorded in Arkansas USA. Fiddle and mandolin player Tim Crouch assisted the musicians of Change of Key with the arrangements and Tim is also playing on both albums. The vocals, mix and mastering are done in the home studio of this trio. Between 2013 and 2017 the trio wrote, not only English but also some Dutch songs, one especially for World Wide Candle Lighting.
November 2018 the trio released a new album with 4 originals and 7 covers. ‘Christmas Glee With Change of Key. During the last 10 years Change of Key was rewarded several times with Dutch Country Music Awards. Album of the year 2 x – Daniëlle 3 x female singer of the year – Change of Key 7 x trio of the year and in 2015 Marijke was inducted to the Dutch Hall of Fame.
In a theater nearby their hometown, COK organizes as of 2012, at least 8 shows with special guests, during the winter season.
The flavor of the music of this trio is a mix of country, bluegrass and easy listening. They love the interaction with the audience. Their repertoire contains covers and originals songs. In 2014 they started a new Theater show ‘Country Music On The Porch’ and in 2019 their new show was called: ‘Country & Side Roads’. End of 2019 they picked up writing and recording new originals songs but the release will be postponed due to Covid19. Change of Key now has her own livestream called ‘Musical Digital Living Room sessions’. For more info see agenda on their website. So Change of Key is still going strong with the same passion, enthusiasm and love for the music as when they started. Back to the roots, no pounding drums or screaming guitars, the voices and harmony’s are the centre of the music of Change of Key. As a reporter of a Dutch Newspaper said in her column:
